About a month ago, SJ announced that the company was scrapping the popular Uppsala commuter train.

Now the Uppsala Region states that it has found a future solution for all the thousands of travelers who travel on the route daily.

– We are now at the finish line and we can announce that Mälardalstrafik will take over virtually all departures that SJ has chosen to leave, says the chairwoman of the regional board, Helena Proos (S), at a press conference.

Mälardalstrafik will operate half-hourly services and even more frequent departures during rush hour on weekdays.

– The needs of travelers have been at the center of attention, this is one of the strongest commuter routes in the country, says chairwoman of the traffic and community development committee Jenny Lundström (MP).
