
Even this summer, Mallorca is the most popular destination if you look at the travel agency Tickets' booking statistics up to the beginning of February.
The Spanish island, a charter classic since the 1950s, topped the list again last year. Spain has two more destinations in the top ten – Malaga and Alicante.
In Greece, it is mainly Crete, in second place, that attracts sun and beach lovers, but Rhodes is also popular. The Croatian city of Split, in third place, has consolidated its position as a traditional summer destination in recent years.
An upstart this summer is Alanya in Turkey in fourth place, a destination that has returned to the holiday map after being in the backwaters in recent years.
Big cities also attract travelers during the summer, with Bangkok in seventh place followed by New York in eighth place.
