The Malmö Festival 2026 has concluded after eight days with over a thousand program items on around 20 stages and venues. The organizers describe this year's festival as successful, calm and tidy - with nice weather as a contributing factor.
Oskar Linnros closed this year's Malmö Festival at Stortorget. During the festival week, visitors have been able to enjoy everything from music and dance to children's activities, circus and food from different parts of the world.
– I would sum it up as a very successful festival! We have had a program with a good breadth and have also been extremely lucky with the weather. Nice weather affects both the number of visitors and the atmosphere a lot, says project manager Jessica Nilsson.
This year's major music acts included The Ark, Jonathan Johansson, Angelique Kidjo, Myriam Fares and Einstürzende Neubauten. The dance floor at Posthusplatsen and the Manegentältet at Lördagsplan were also among the places that were packed during the festival.
Improves safety work
The festival organization also highlights the work on safety and security. The festival's security officers have collaborated with, among others, the police, paramedics, security guards, audience and youth hosts, and social workers.
– This type of large event requires good collaboration between several different parts within the city together with external parties and authorities, something that we have built up over a long time. It feels really good to be able to create a safe and fun festival experience for our visitors together, says project manager Pontus Friberg.
No final visitor figure is given in the summary from the organizers.
The next Malmö Festival will be held on August 13–20, 2027.
