At least 23 people were injured when a plane was forced to make an emergency landing in a field outside Moscow.

The plane experienced engine problems after colliding with a flock of birds shortly after takeoff, reports the AP.

At first it was said that no one had been injured, but now Russian medical authorities state that 23 people, including five children, were injured and have been taken to hospital.

The plane, an Airbus from Ural Airlines, had a total of 233 people on board.
