A ferry with an estimated 80 passengers on board has capsized in Indonesia.

“One passenger has been found dead, 18 have been rescued,” said Sutupo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the country’s disaster agency.

The accident occurred in Indonesia's largest lake, Lake Toba, in the province of North Sumatra.

The authorities have called in extra rescue boats, but due to bad weather, they have been forced to suspend rescue efforts overnight.
