HKC Hotels strengthens its team – in May, Maria Jansson took over as the new CEO of Best Western Plus Åby Hotel in Gothenburg/Mölndal. Maria has a solid background in the hotel and hospitality industry and most recently came from the role as CEO of Gullmarsstrand Hotel & Konferens.

– I am really looking forward to leading Åby Hotel into the next chapter, says Maria Jansson. The hotel is unique in its expression and location, and has in a short time become an important meeting place in the Gothenburg region, not least with the exhibition hall being put back into use at the turn of the year. Together with the team, I want to continue developing the guest experience and strengthen our position as an obvious destination for both business travelers, conferences, events and private guests, continues Maria.

Åby Hotel is part of Åby Arena, an area that also houses Åbytravet and Åbymässan. The hotel offers 223 rooms, conference facilities, a restaurant and a unique fairground-themed interior.

– With Maria Jansson in place as the new CEO, we are entering a new development phase for the hotel. She will play a key role in further developing our new meeting department and the expanded restaurant operations that were established last year. At the same time, we are facing an exciting opportunity when Åbymässan is put back into use – an initiative where Maria's experience in both hotel and conference operations will be invaluable in strengthening Åby Arena as a comprehensive destination for both business and experiences, says Marcus Östlundh, CEO of HKC Hotels.

HKC Hotels currently operates hotels in Stockholm, Malmö, Örebro and Hudiksvall. Åby Hotel is the company's first establishment in the Gothenburg region and is the group's largest hotel.
