Mark Fenzel becomes the new CEO of Öresundståg.

The board of Öresundståg AB has unanimously appointed a new CEO. Mark Fenzel will be taking over the role from Jarl Samuelsson, who has been acting CEO for an extended period.

Mark Fenzel joins us from Kraftringen, where he was Head of Business Area. He also has previous experience from Skånetrafiken, where he was responsible for the train business area.

– On behalf of the Öresundståg board, I am very pleased to announce that Mark Fenzel is joining Öresundståg AB as the new CEO. Mark has a long and solid experience and background in rail and infrastructure, which is of great importance in his new role. Mark will succeed Jarl Samuelsson, the current acting CEO, when his term expires. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Jarl, who has been highly appreciated in his role during his time with us. It is no easy task to replace such a force with extensive knowledge. However, by successfully recruiting Mark Fenzel, we are convinced that we have found the right person, says Carina Zachau (M), Chair of the Board of Öresundståg AB.

Mark Fenzel takes up his new position on 1 October and formally starts as CEO on 1 January 2025.

“Our top priority moving forward is to ensure the daily operation of the Öresund trains with high reliability and punctuality. At the same time, we must strengthen and develop cooperation with all stakeholders, both new and existing, to create efficient rail traffic. Finally, we are planning for the long-term development of Öresund traffic, with sustainability, regional growth and passenger needs in focus,” says Mark Fenzel, incoming CEO of Öresundståg AB.
