Marriott Bonvoy, the loyalty program from Marriott International, has entered into a new partnership with Ethiopian Airlines – Africa’s largest airline and a member of Star Alliance. The collaboration aims to provide members with greater flexibility and benefits across both hotel stays and air travel.
Through the partnership, members of Marriott Bonvoy and Ethiopian Airlines’ ShebaMiles loyalty program can now convert points and miles between the programs. This means travelers can use ShebaMiles for hotel stays and upgrades, or Marriott Bonvoy points to book flights.
Members also have the option to choose whether to earn hotel points or airline miles when they stay at participating hotels within Marriott Bonvoy's global network, which includes over 30 brands and approximately 10,000 destinations worldwide.

Ethiopian Airlines also highlights the collaboration as a strategic step to strengthen the customer experience.

Ethiopian Airlines serves over 145 destinations globally and, through its membership in Star Alliance, offers access to a network of more than 1,150 destinations via 25 partner airlines.
This is how the points exchange works:
- ShebaMiles can be converted to Marriott Bonvoy points at a ratio of 2:1
- Marriott Bonvoy points can be converted to ShebaMiles at a ratio of 3:1
- Bonus of 5,000 ShebaMiles is given upon transfer of 60,000 points
