Mikael Jonsson appointed new destination manager for Destination Östersund

At the turn of the year, Mikael Jonsson will take up the position of Destination Manager for Destination Östersund. Mikael Jonsson most recently came from a position as CEO at Peak Region AB. Mikael also has a broad background in event development and the hospitality industry. He has previously run companies in production and project management and worked with events such as Storsjöyran and the World Championships and World Cup in Biathlon.

Mikael Jonsson says:
– I am really looking forward to the task but at the same time I am humbled by the urgent situation we find ourselves in. I believe I have the ability to act operationally regarding the current situation, but at the same time possess the knowledge to work strategically and with a longer-term perspective. He continues:
– I have great confidence that we in the tourism industry, together with Östersund Municipality and the rest of the business community, will be able to continue to develop Östersund into an even stronger reason to travel. I believe that my experiences from innovation work between business, the university and the public sector can be put to good use there.

– Mikael Jonsson's background and experience in the hospitality industry and major events, together with his knowledge of entrepreneurship, innovation and development, will be valuable in leading Destination Östersund forward, says Katarina Magnusson, Chairman of the Board of Destination Östersund. She continues:
– We believe in his ability to drive change, he has a strong network both locally and nationally and good reviews of his leadership skills.
