It doesn't seem to be just climate concerns that make Swedish train passengers choose the train. Whether a train journey is a good environmental choice is not the most important priority for travelers, according to a new survey presented by the Swedish Transport Agency.
Instead, it is traffic safety, punctuality and access to seats that train passengers consider most important. The environment comes quite far down the list.
The result contradicts a customer survey that SJ conducted some time ago, in which the train's low climate impact was the main driving force for traveling by train.
The Swedish Transport Agency's report also shows that nearly eight out of ten passengers are satisfied with how traveling by train works. However, the proportion of dissatisfied people has increased since the previous survey in 2017.
”"There has been a particularly large deterioration in passengers' experience of punctuality," says Jonathan Sundin, investigator at the Swedish Transport Agency, in a comment.
