Sunclass Airlines, which is part of Harald Mix and Petter Stordalen's holiday travel company, is laying off cabin crew in Norway, reports E24.
14 Sunclass Airlines cabin crew employees are being laid off. The company's communications manager states for E24 that this is happening after "new and more precise analyses" that have shown a need to reduce the workforce after "more effective planning".
Di has previously reported that the airline has suffered major losses. Since 2019, when the airline was purchased – as part of the travel agency Ving – from Thomas Cook's bankruptcy estate by Harald Mix Altor, Petter Stordalens Strawberry and the British venture capital firm TDR, it has made a loss equivalent to 1.2 billion Swedish kronor.
This has led to a deficit in equity, with the result that the owners have had to inject new capital.
Sunclass flies passengers on package tours to and from holiday destinations, and the communications manager insists that there is no talk of closing routes in connection with the cutbacks.
