For those looking forward to lazy days on the beach, their holiday can quickly become a disappointment if it rains. That is why leading travel operator TUI is now starting a collaboration with Sensible Weather, a company in climate technology, which has developed a weather guarantee that provides financial compensation in the event of rain. When booking, TUI customers have the option of signing up for the weather guarantee for an additional cost based on the weather forecast for the hotel's location. A forecast for rain of 1.5mm per hour or more, for at least two hours, automatically activates the guarantee and provides a payment on the same day. The amount of compensation is determined by the total value of the trip.

– Traveling with TUI should feel safe. We cannot influence the weather at our destinations, but with this weather guarantee, our customers can have a fun holiday even if it rains. The compensation is paid on the same day, which gives travelers the opportunity to engage in weather-independent activities, such as a museum visit or a shopping spree, says Tommy Serban, Commercial Director at TUI in the Nordics.

The weather guarantee will be launched in October and is available as an option for customers who book a package holiday with TUI on selected trips.
