SJ reports an operating profit of SEK 258 million in the second quarter, up from SEK 113 million in the same quarter the previous year. Turnover increased from SEK 1,997 million to SEK 2,208 million.

According to a press release, demand for train travel continues to increase. In the second quarter, the increase was 9 percent compared to the same period last year. Increased cost control has led to reduced ticket prices, SJ notes.

”"Our structured work with the customer at the center, from booking to service and treatment on board, gives us more satisfied customers over time," says SJ's CEO Crister Fritzson.

During the quarter, SJ won two procurements that mean that starting next year it will operate traffic on both the Öresund Line and train traffic on the Norwegian Dovre Line and Nordlands Line.

”"The fact that SJ has won these large and strategically important contracts in fierce competition with significantly larger train operators is clear proof that our offering is of high quality at a reasonable price," says Crister Fritzson.
