November was a dark month for the hotel and restaurant industry. Now bankruptcies are increasing again.

– The situation is terribly urgent, says Thomas Jakobsson, chief economist at the industry organization Visita.

During the summer and the following months, there was some recovery in the hotel and restaurant industry. However, increased infection rates and new, stricter restrictions have now caused revenues to plummet again.

– On November 1, turnover was about 30 percent lower than normal. At the end of November we were down 75 percent. It's a black slope downhill, says Thomas Jakobsson.

After more than eight months of crisis, economic resilience, despite support measures, is at a minimal level, in some places non-existent.
