Norwegian has received the go-ahead from Russian authorities for two additional flight routes over Russian airspace.

The Norwegian airline is now allowed to fly between Bangkok and Stockholm and Copenhagen over Russian airspace instead of flying the detour over Ukraine, Romania and the Black Sea. Norwegian has previously been allowed to fly Oslo—Bangkok over Russia.

So far, SAS has a competitive advantage over Norwegian on flights to the east because SAS has more far-reaching permission to fly over Russia.
