Additional aircraft models should be inspected after an emergency exit door came loose and left a large hole in the middle of a flight on a Boeing 737, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) believes.

An older model of Boeing plane uses the same type of door design, so they should also be inspected for the same type of defect, writes BBC News, citing a statement from the authority.

It was during an Alaska Airlines flight from California to Portland in early January that an emergency exit door came loose, leaving a large hole in the plane thousands of feet above the ground. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing, but no one was injured.
