Sweden is bursting with musical experiences as international world stars, acclaimed musicals, traditional fiddler groups and folk festivals offer something for all tastes. Here are some examples of how you can experience summer Sweden through music!
The Swedish music year 2024 has started strong! The Eurovision Song Contest brought together music enthusiasts from all over the world. Devoted ABBA fans celebrated the 50th anniversary of the group's breakthrough with Waterloo. And Swifties were able to see their big idol when Taylor Swift chose Stockholm as the only venue for her The Eras Tour in the Nordic countries.
And there is still much to experience. The coming months offer a packed program with long-awaited performances in a variety of genres and themes all over Sweden. Why not head to Dalarna where magical Dalhalla offers a cavalcade of performances from world stars such as ZZ Top, Gene Simmons band and P-Floyd, but also Swedish favorites like Molly Zandén and Tomas Ledin. Here you can also enjoy the greatest Swedish musical of all time, Kristina from Duvemåla, with lyrics and music created by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. If you like folk music, you can head to the classic Orbaden Assembly in beautiful Hälsingland – a recurring fiddler's meeting filled with folk music, concerts, children's performances, courses, log dancing and pleasant food and drink experiences
Green Live at the Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm is Sweden's longest-running festival, with over 50 concerts throughout the summer. This summer, artists such as Alice Cooper, Sam Smith, Loreen and Deep Purple will perform. If you are in Stockholm around the turn of June-July, you can at the Festival STHLM Fields see TOTO, The Hives and Doja Cat.
If you like to swing around to the music in a couple dance, maybe Dance band week in Malung can be an alternative and if you prefer a little more jazzy tones, we offer Stockholm Jazz Festival. This summer, everyone who loves 80s music can also be made aware that 80s favorites Journey who broke through with "Don't stop believin" plays on Sweden Rock.
A newcomer this year is Uppsala Homecoming Festival where you will be able to see some of Sweden's biggest and most popular artists such as Zara Larsson and Veronica Maggio. Finally, it can be happily announced, for all of you who love Bruce Springsteen, that "The Boss" is coming to Sweden this summer too!
