Major strike looms in Canada

Remove

More than 155,000 government employees in Canada will go on strike on Wednesday, if the parties do not reach an agreement.

The chairman of the PSAC union, Chris Aylward, says that some progress has been made in the negotiations, but that they are far apart when it comes to issues such as wages and remote working.

Staff in critical occupations are exempt, but 35,000 employees at the CRA are covered, as are people working on visas.
