Air France-KLM Group (AF-KLM) and Neste are now announcing an expansion of their existing collaboration and strategic partnership, which will see Neste deliver Neste MY Renewable Aviation Fuel™ to the group of companies. This agreement will be valid for a period of eight years and is one of the largest of its kind in the aviation industry.
Air France-KLM Group is committed to reducing its environmental impact and aims to reduce its CO2 emissions per passenger/km by 30% by 2030, compared to 2019. This target has been reported to the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative. Its path to becoming fossil-free includes a transition to using 10% biofuel by 2030, along with an upgrade of its fleet and eco-piloting. The contract with Neste, the first in a series of long-term supply agreements, represents a further step towards the Group achieving its biofuel share target by 2030.

Neste aims to help customers reduce emissions by at least 20 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually by 2030 with our renewable and circular solutions,” says Matti Lehmus, CEO and President of Neste.

The agreement regulates the supply of renewable aviation fuel to Air France-KLM Group, which began in 2019. However, the two companies have also collaborated for many years, as KLM was one of the first airlines to use Neste MY Renewable Aviation Fuel.

By the end of next year, Neste will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of renewable aviation fuel, and be ready to further increase our deliveries to Air France-KLM Group and other airlines in Europe and globally,” says Thorsten Lange, Executive Vice President for Renewable Aviation, Neste.
Neste MY Renewable Jet Fuel is a solution that is already available today. It is a drop-in fuel that can be used in existing aircraft engines and with existing airport infrastructure without the need for new investments. Neste My Renewable Jet Fuel is produced from raw materials from 100 percent sustainably sourced waste and residual products, such as used cooking oil and animal fat.
