The list of airlines banned from operating in EU member states has been updated.
Two companies have been removed, while one has been added, writes Vagabond.
Venezuelan Avior Airlines is the latest airline to be blacklisted by the EU. The list consists of non-European airlines deemed to not meet high enough safety standards, and airlines from countries that do not meet safety requirements.
At the same time, during the update at the end of last year, Mustique Airways from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Urga from Ukraine were removed from the list, as security had been improved.
This brings the number of companies on the list to 178.
All airlines from the following countries are banned from flying in the EU:
Afghanistan
Angola (an exempted company)
Republic of the Congo
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Djibouti
Equatorial Guinea
Eritrea
Gabon (two exceptions),
Indonesia (seven exceptions)
Kyrgyzstan
Liberia
Nepal
Sao Tome and Principe
Sierra Leone
Sudan
