Nearly 160,000 travelers chose to travel with the Baltic Sea's new pleasure cruiser Birka Gotland during June, July and August 2024. During the summer months, the ship has offered both shorter Åland cruises and a record number of departures to Visby. Birka Gotland has also called at popular Baltic Sea destinations such as the High Coast, Ystad and Bornholm.
The cruise ship Birka Gotland entered service with new owners after an extensive upgrade in March this year. Part of the new initiative has been a record 31 calls to Visby. Also new is that the departure ports have been expanded so that both Åland and Gotland residents have been able to easily check in on Birka Gotland.
–It is fantastic that Birka Gotland has attracted so many travelers in its first summer under new management. It is proof that we have found the right combination of onboard experiences and Baltic Sea destinations, says Kenneth Gustavsson, Commercial Director Gotland Alandia Cruises.
Interest in the longer cruises to the High Coast, Ystad and Bornholm has been great, thanks to close cooperation with the destinations and a solid selection of excursion destinations on land. In total, almost 160,000 people have traveled with Birka Gotland in June, July and August. Most traveled during the industrial vacation in July, but August will be booked as a close second.
–We will now continue to be a relevant alternative for those looking for a shorter getaway with good food, shopping, spa and entertainment. This autumn we will raise the temperature with double dance bands, 80s and 90s music on the weekends and of course our luxurious seafood buffet, which we serve every day of the week, says Kenneth Gustavsson.
