On Sunday, the new border control system, Entry Exit System, will be introduced at all border crossings in Sweden and in most other countries that are part of the Schengen cooperation.
When travelers covered by the new regulations land or disembark at a border crossing point in Sweden, border police personnel will carry out the entry and exit procedures.
It requires travelers to provide fingerprints and a facial photo. Children under the age of twelve are exempt from the requirement to provide fingerprints, but must be registered.
EU and Schengen citizens are not affected by the new border crossing system. Swedish citizens travelling in and out of the EU do not need to provide a facial photo and fingerprints. People who are citizens of another country but have a residence permit or right of residence (and thus have a residence card) in Sweden are also not covered.
