From 22 June, SAS is launching a new direct route between Visby and Copenhagen with three departures per week between 22 June and 7 August. The new route will provide Gotlanders with an easier way to get to Copenhagen, and onwards to over 125 destinations in Europe, North America and Asia, while increasing accessibility to Gotland.

Copenhagen is SAS's largest hub and a centre for onward travel to destinations such as Tokyo, Boston, London and Paris. With Seoul as a new destination, SAS now offers a total of 14 intercontinental direct routes from Copenhagen. In summer 2026, SAS will expand with nine new routes, six new destinations and an expanded network in Europe, North America and Asia. In addition, SAS is increasing the number of departures on over 30 existing routes.

“Over the past year, SAS has significantly increased traffic between Visby and Arlanda, thereby improving accessibility for Gotlanders. With the new route to Copenhagen, Scandinavia's global hub, it will become even easier to travel the world via our international network. At the same time, we are strengthening Gotland's connections with the outside world and the opportunities for more visitors to discover the island's unique culture and nature. We look forward to continuing the dialogue on how we can further develop accessibility to and from Gotland., says Alexandra Lindgren Kaoukji, Head of Communications at SAS.

I am pleased that SAS is expanding at Visby Airport. Copenhagen is a popular destination for many reasons, and as we see an increased interest in all that Gotland has to offer, I expect the new route to be very much appreciated.” says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. Our task is to enable people to meet, whether for business, leisure or to visit family and friends, and this new direct route will be an important part of that.”
