EasyJet is expanding and launching its third direct route to Åre Östersund Airport.
During the 2018/2019 winter season, the airline can offer a smooth connection from Bristol in southwest England directly to the heart of Jämtland.
Jämtland with its genuine nature experiences and winter sports activities is now becoming more accessible to Britons. The winter destination will be reached with easyJet from Bristol Airport on Sundays starting December 9. easyJet already has two regular routes from Åre Östersund; to London Gatwick and to Copenhagen Kastrup.
– We are happy and proud that easyJet has chosen to expand with another route to Åre Östersund Airport, which is a positive sign for the airport and everyone involved in the tourism industry. In the winter season 2017/2018, we had an 89 percent increase in incoming travelers from England to our airport, compared to the previous season. Now it will be even easier for Britons to experience the Jämtland winter, says Peter Fahlén, Airport Manager at Åre Östersund Airport.
– Three destinations in the course of three years is a development beyond expectations, but also clear proof that the development work done by many tourism entrepreneurs has made us a highly appreciated travel destination in a short time. We are now continuing the work to increase awareness of our fantastic region, this time with our sights set on Bristol and the surrounding area, says Karin Gydemo Grahnlöf, Jämtland Härjedalen Tourism.
