Both SAS and Ryanair are launching new flights this summer.
From Arlanda, Catania in Sicily, Marseille, Naples and Reykjavik are the new destinations, while Landvetter will receive direct routes to Faro in Portugal and Dublin in Ireland, among other destinations.
Summer means peak season for holiday flights south. It also means that airlines are opening new routes to popular destinations.
SAS launches 17 new direct routes and 6 brand new destinations – Catania, Florence, Marseille, Cornwall Newquay, Szczecin and Antalya.
If you fly from Arlanda, Catania in Sicily, Marseille in France, Naples in Italy and Reykjavik in Iceland are the new destinations. If you fly from Landvetter, you can take a direct flight to Faro in Portugal.
New flight route to Luxembourg
– Interest in travel continues to increase and I am pleased that this summer we can offer a number of new destinations and that we are now increasing our presence in some of the Scandinavians' most popular destinations. We want more people to travel with us and discover the world, but with a smaller climate footprint. That is why SAS is working to create sustainable travel, in the form of various initiatives such as biofuel, new flights with lower fuel consumption and emissions and, for example, by reducing food waste and plastic on board, says Rickard Gustafson, CEO, SAS.
SAS is also starting a new flight route to the financial metropolis of Luxembourg, which SAS will operate exclusively. Tickets to the destination went on sale on May 20 and the first flight will take off on November 4. The new route between Arlanda and Luxembourg will be flown three times a week with departures on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
This winter, SAS will also open new routes from Copenhagen to Turin in Italy and a connection from Oslo to Kiev in Ukraine.
Easier to get to Dublin
Ryanair is also starting new routes for the summer. Then you can go directly between Landvetter to Prague (also Stockholm Skavsta), Barcelona and Manchester. And in April a direct route started between Gothenburg and Dublin, there are two direct flights a week to Dublin.

Dublin is a new addition that follows the already announced Barcelona, Manchester and Prague, which will start in April 2019, and which will fly twice a week as part of our summer programme, says Chris Lundshøj, Sales and Marketing Manager at Ryanair.
