International travel at Stockholm Arlanda set a new record for the second month in a row. Just over 2.1 million international passengers traveled through the airport in August, while Swedavia's ten airports in total increased traffic by 3 percent to over 3.3 million travelers.

Demand for international travel continued to drive air traffic in August. A total of just over 3.3 million passengers traveled via Swedavia's ten airports, 3 percent more than in the same month in 2025.

International traffic increased by 3 percent and, according to Swedavia, was on par with travel before the pandemic. Domestic traffic was unchanged compared to last year, despite a lower supply.

Arlanda broke records from 2018

At Stockholm Arlanda, international traffic increased by just over 3 percent to 2.1 million passengers. This was approximately 16,000 more than the previous August record from 2018.

This also means that Arlanda set a new record for international traffic for the second month in a row.

A total of just over 2.4 million passengers traveled via Arlanda during August, an increase of 2 percent compared to the same month last year.

Domestic traffic developed more weakly and decreased by 4 percent to just over 324,000 passengers.

Landvetter increased by 4 percent

Gothenburg Landvetter had around 566,000 passengers during the month, 4 percent more than in August last year.

International traffic increased by 4 percent to 524,000 passengers. Domestic travel rose by 11 percent to just under 42,000 passengers.

Several of Swedavia's regional airports also increased traffic. Malmö Airport grew by 16 percent and Visby Airport by 13 percent compared to August 2025.

Bromma Stockholm Airport had just over 9,600 passengers during August. This corresponds to around 5 percent of the airport's traffic level in 2019.

Swedavia describes demand for air travel as stable and increasing, but at the same time points to the situation in the Middle East as a factor of uncertainty ahead of the winter season.
