New parliamentary attempts to stop the government's plans to close down Bromma Airport

New attempts are being made to get the government to halt its plans to close down Bromma Airport.

If the government is to reorganize the basic range of airports, the Riksdag must first give its approval, according to a proposal from the Moderates.

”The government must respect the Riksdag,” says Maria Stockhaus, spokesperson for M in the transport committee.

She reminds us that the Riksdag, in announcements to the government this year and in 2016, has urged the government not to close Bromma prematurely. And a condition for possibly doing so is to develop Arlanda and ensure that important domestic routes are not lost in the event of a move.

Furthermore, it is completely ill-timed to make a decision to close down Bromma now or in the near future after years of the pandemic and a decline in travel. It is not possible to make any reliable forecasts about how aviation will recover and whether it is possible to get rid of an airport, the Moderates believe, and believe they can get a majority in the committee to support their proposal.

Formally it works The Riksdag is asking the government to take back control over which airports will be included in the national basic offer. Bromma is now included in the offer and the government will decide whether it will remain. The Riksdag is requesting that the government not be able to remove an airport without the Riksdag's approval.

When the bourgeois parties, as well as the SD, together gained a majority for the criticism of the government's handling of Bromma this spring, it was with the support of the Center Party. The C party remains critical and believes that there is a lack of confidence in the government's handling of the issue and that it may therefore be justified to, so to speak, regain control over the basic supply.

The government has just sent out the investigation that examined how the closure of Bromma can be carried out for consultation, by the end of the year.

The committee received a report on the investigation from the person responsible, Magnus Persson, at Tuesday's meeting. The person who commissioned the investigation, Minister of the Interior Tomas Eneroth (S), also participated.
