The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Development is granting SEK 16 million to 16 different projects that will strengthen business and product development in tourism companies within destinations.

The ongoing pandemic has had and continues to have major effects on tourism and the hospitality industry. Demand in large parts of the industry has decreased sharply, which has led to intensive restructuring efforts in many companies and destinations. The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth has been tasked by the government to make efforts during the year to promote the restructuring and development of the hospitality industry. Within the framework of this initiative, we have now approved 16 projects around the country.

Examples of approved projects

Through the Stockholm Archipelago collaboration project, Visit Stockholm will develop sustainable and attractive nature experiences together with accommodation facilities on islands in the Stockholm archipelago.

Gävle Municipality will create a business development program that enables sustainable activities within nature tourism in protected nature.

Visit Dalarna will help companies develop new products and create collaborations in two new areas, golf and fishing tourism.

Region Västerbotten will offer companies sustainable tools for transformation with a focus on product development and digital maturity.

Båstad Tourism & Business will help companies identify their needs for change and offer business development with a focus on sustainability.
