The new Icelandic low-cost airline PLAY is establishing itself for the first time in the Swedish market with a direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.
The newly launched Icelandic low-cost carrier began flying in the summer of 2021, and the route between Gothenburg and Reykjavik will be the first route that PLAY starts in Sweden. The route will be launched on May 20 and will be operated twice a week during the summer.
The route was operated by another operator until 2018 and was a popular route. Just over 80 percent of those travelling between Gothenburg and Reykjavik are private travellers, with a relatively large proportion visiting family and friends. Approximately 65 percent of the travellers are Swedes and 35 percent Icelanders.

From May 20, PLAY will operate between Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) and Keflavik International Airport (KEF) twice a week with the Airbus A321Neo aircraft type.
