Are you one of those people who always forgets to put toothpaste and shampoo in a small plastic bag, and has to stand and look for all the liquids in the queue for the security check at the airport? Then you might be happy that you will soon not have to do this at many airports, but the new technology does not seem to be coming to Sweden for a while.

Having to pick up the computer and the small bag of liquids may seem simple, but all too often people are left repacking in stress just before security. Now many major airports are going to introduce 3D methods to scan luggage faster, writes SVT. 

In the UK, Heathrow in London will be the first to introduce the technology, which is expected to be both faster and safer. The 3D equipment will be used to see what type of liquid is in your bag without you having to unpack it, and the technology will also give staff a clearer picture of the contents of the bag, including by allowing them to zoom and rotate the 3D image. The UK has decided that all of the country's major airports will have the technology by 2022. The technology is also being introduced in the US, Switzerland and the Netherlands. 

Delays in Sweden 

In Sweden, there is no decision to introduce 3D technology. 

– We are now analyzing which of our airports could introduce the new 3D technology, but it involves major investments, says Mats Paulsson, Director of Security at Swedavia, to SVT. 

Mars Paulsson also tells the newspaper that the technology enables staff to make more confident assessments, and that the experience becomes smoother and better for the traveler.
