SJ is canceling all train departures between Skåne and Gothenburg this summer. The reason is track work and a widespread staff shortage.
– This is a decision we had to make, says Jonas Olsson at SJ.
If you are planning to travel via SJ train between Skåne and Gothenburg this summer, it may be time to think again. SJ has decided to cancel all traffic on the route between June 19 and August 21.
Which Southern Swedish was first to report on.
“We refer to other good operators that operate on the route, such as Öresundstågen,” says Jonas Olsson, press communicator at SJ. He states that there are two significant reasons why traffic is being cancelled: track work and staff shortages.
– We have a national shortage of train drivers in Sweden. This is a decision we needed to make, says Jonas Olsson.
He continues:
– There will also be a lot of track work in the region that contributes to the decision we have made.
Öresund train traffic will also be affected during the summer.
– We are working very hard together with Västtrafik to get replacement traffic in between (Mölndal–Gothenburg central). It will be a hot summer, but we will put all our effort into it for our customers, says Jarl Samuelsson, CEO of Öresundstågen, to Sydsvenskan.
