With nearly nine out of ten punctual flights, Aeromexico became the world's most punctual airline in 2024. The Nordic airlines SAS and Norwegian fared well in the competition as the companies rank among the top five in Europe.
According to CNBC, aviation analytics company Cirium has examined the punctuality of the world's airlines. Aeromexico takes first place among global companies with a punctuality of 86.7 percent. The measurement refers to a flight with a maximum deviation of 15 minutes from the schedule.
The companies Saudia and Delta Airlines, one of the world's largest airlines, comes in second and third place respectively in the punctuality league. Chilean Latam Airlines and Qatar Airways, with punctuality above 80 percent, also make it into the world's top five airlines.
Punctuality for the industry as a whole decreased slightly last year, which Cirium attributes to failed software updates and more extreme weather conditions than normal. In total, just over 38 million flights were operated in 2024.
On the list of American airlines, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines come in second and third place respectively after Delta.
In Europe, the top The punctuality list is topped by two Spanish operators, Iberia Express and Iberia. Scandinavian Airlines, SAS, takes bronze with a punctuality of 81.4 percent.
Norwegian ranks fifth, after Spanish Vueling.
