Norrqvarn Hotel & Conference gets a new owner

Along the Göta Canal in one of the old mills is Norrqvarn Hotell & Konferens. Now new owners are taking over one of the Göta Canal's most popular accommodation facilities.

–Magnus and Malin Johansson, who have run Norrqvarn for ten years, have developed the business to what it is today but are ready for a new chapter in their professional lives, says Roger Altsäter, CEO of AB Göta kanalbolag, which owns the property.

Den stora, gula byggnaden vid Norrkvarns slussar var ursprungligen en av Göta kanals kvarnar och var en viktig plats för de närliggande gårdsfolken i trakten. Idag är det ett uppskattat hotell och konferensanläggning.

Nest in a mushroom or stump
Anyone who wants to experience something completely unique and completely, completely magical can also book a night in one of Norrqvarn's mushrooms and stumps! Here you live in the middle of nature, close to the Göta Canal with the lock area and the Barnens Minikanal.

 Want to enhance the experience
“We see that the tourist facility has the potential to develop even more,” says Maria Jansson, one half of the new ownership duo. Together with her husband Jan Sundberg, the couple will take over the business from February 1st.

Jan and Maria have been successfully operating as their own entrepreneurs in the retail trade for the past ten years, and when they sold their business last fall, they stumbled upon the opportunity to take over Norrqvarn Hotel & Conference.

“It felt like an opportunity we couldn't miss,” says Jan Sundberg. The unique hotel environment, the location along the Göta Canal, combined with fantastic staff, means that we see great development potential, not least for conferences and groups.

–We will continue to work with good hospitality, food and local ingredients, but also refine the experience so that even more people find their way here outside the touristy summer season, concludes Maria Jansson.
