The Green Party has passed an initiative on train traffic in budget negotiations with the Social Democrats, the Center Party and the Liberals, reports TV4 Nyheterna.

Over a five-year period, the government wants to invest half a billion kronor in night trains, both to the continent and to upper Norrland and Jämtland. The Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for the night trains to Norrland and they will therefore receive a supplement in the autumn budget, this to ensure that the night trains to the northern parts of the country will continue, the Green Party writes on its website.

The night trains to Norrland have previously been on the verge of disappearing, reports TV4 Nyheterna.
