Norway is lifting a flight ban from the UK, which was imposed to stop the spread of the more contagious variant of the coronavirus. The flight ban was imposed on December 21.
Planes from the UK will be allowed to land again starting January 2, the Norwegian Minister of Health announced on Friday, Reuters reports.
On Thursday, Oslo announced that all people arriving from abroad will be tested for COVID-19, either immediately upon arrival or within 24 hours.
Prime Minister Erna Solberg says that a spread of the new virus mutation could lead to a complete shutdown of society.
Norway had the fourth lowest infection rate in Europe, 113.6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 inhabitants, over the past fortnight. Iceland, Greece and Finland had lower infection rates.
