Norwegian is in the final stages of discussions with Boeing about compensation for the grounded 737 Max aircraft, Norwegian's acting CEO Geir Karlsson said in DNB Markets' podcast "Utbytte", according to TDN Direkt.

”"At the end of 2019, Boeing has almost 500 aircraft parked in Seattle, including 13-15 of ours. It is a super challenge for Boeing, at the same time we want to get as good an agreement as possible, which we are on the way to getting," said Geir Karlsson.

Norwegian hopes to have its aircraft back in service by Easter next year. According to Geir Karlsson, there are complicated discussions regarding compensation, as well as plans for future deliveries of 737 Max aircraft. Boeing will not be able to meet previously agreed delivery schedules.

”"We are planning summer production next year and our starting point is that Max is back. As of today, we have 32-34 aircraft too few, compared to what we thought a year ago. From what we understand after dialogue with Boeing, the FAA (the American aviation authority) will grant permission in mid-January, and the European aviation authorities EASA will come a month later. After that, we believe we need four to eight weeks before we have the aircraft in production," Geir Karlsson continued in the podcast.
