The airline operator Norwegian noticed for a long time during the spring that bookings to sunny destinations were lower than last year among Norwegian regular customers.

This is what Tonje Næss, communications advisor at the airline, tells Nyhetsbyrån Direkt.

”It's something that has improved significantly recently,” she says.

She reasons that it has to do with the fact that last year's beautiful summer was still in the memory, while the weather, so far this summer, has been more variable in Norway. This can be assumed to have contributed to the recent increased interest in air travel to southern European destinations, she says.

In connection with the report at the end of May, SAS spoke of a generally good booking situation, but that it had noticed a lower number of bookings for sun holidays than normal.

”"I think that everyone in the market generally sees that – that particular type of travel seems to be a little less in demand this year compared to previous years," SAS CEO Rickard Gustafson told Nyhetsbyrån Direkt at the time.

Norwegian rose just under 5 percent in Oslo on Thursday after releasing traffic figures for June, while SAS, which releases corresponding figures on Friday, is up just over 5 percent in Stockholm.
