Norwegian increased its passenger numbers by 92 percent to 1.874 million in September, compared to the same month last year. The month before, growth was 153 percent to almost 2 million passengers, according to a press release.
”"September was also a good month with many travelers both within and to and from the Nordic region. As we now enter the autumn holiday season, we are noticing a particularly high demand for trips to popular destinations in Europe, both to beaches and big cities. This shows that there is still a great interest among Nordics to travel. We are also pleased that the number of business travelers has increased after the summer. In the most popular business travel destinations in Norway, the number of travelers is back to 2019 levels," says Norwegian's CEO Geir Karlsen.
If traffic is measured in revenue passenger kilometers, RPK, the airline increased by 100 percent during the month (186).
Capacity, measured as ASK, increased by 70 percent in September (143).
The cabin load factor was 85.2 percent in September (85.5).
”"We expect lower demand during the winter season that we are now entering. Norwegian is well prepared to handle the quieter period, both through careful planning of the route network, flexible aircraft leasing agreements through power-by-the-hour agreements (PBH) and good agreements with unions. We recently launched the traffic program for the summer season 2023 with an improved offer on popular destinations in Europe. This also means that we are now hiring 700 new colleagues across all our bases," says the Norwegian manager.
