Norwegian continues to focus on Sweden with new routes and more departures to existing destinations. In the last two years alone, Norwegian's capacity in Sweden has increased by a full 30 percent to sun and beach destinations and by 15 percent to major cities.
Over the past two years, Norwegian has launched many new routes and increased the number of departures on existing routes with increased demand. This spring, new direct routes to Bucharest, Porto, Lyon and Bilbao will start from Stockholm Arlanda.
–Good air connections are crucial for a country's competitiveness, but Sweden still lags behind both Norway and Denmark in terms of accessibility by air. Sweden is one of our most important markets and we look forward to continuing to develop the route network to contribute to increased accessibility while having ambitious goals to reduce emissions, says Norwegian's Director of Communications Charlotte Holmbergh.
Norwegian has the Nordic region as its main market and today Sweden is the company's third largest market after Norway and Denmark. The company flies internationally from Stockholm Arlanda, Gothenburg Landvetter, Stockholm Skavsta and Växjö. During the summer months, Norwegian offers an extensive route network of 350 routes to nearly 130 destinations.
From Stockholm Arlanda, Norwegian serves 56 destinations and from Gothenburg Landvetter, eight destinations. From both Stockholm Skavsta Airport and Växjö Småland Airport, Norwegian flies to three Spanish destinations; Alicante, Malaga and Palma. Domestically, Norwegian flies between Stockholm and Umeå, Luleå, Kiruna and Skellefteå, and in the summer also to Visby.
Norwegian's goal is to reduce emissions by 45 percent by 2030, and to achieve this, the company is focusing on a renewed fleet of aircraft with modern and fuel-efficient aircraft, more efficient flights and an increased blend of biofuels.
