In the midst of the corona pandemic, Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air is trying to break into the Norwegian market. On Thursday, the company will make its first domestic flights in Norway, thus taking on the competition from SAS and Norwegian, among others.
In connection with this, Norwegian pilots and cabin crew are planning to protest Wizz Air's entry into the market, writes the news agency NTB. Among other things, the flight crew will "warn" and inform travelers for the Hungarian company, according to an initiative taken by the industry's trade union Parat.
The reason is that Wizz Air does not apply any collective agreements. Among other things, CEO József Váradi has said in previous interviews that ”unions kill business.”.
The Norwegian protests against the company will take place in Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen, Stavanger and Bodø on Thursday.
In a press release, the chairman of the Norwegian Pilots' Association, Oddbjørn Holsether, says that there are many who "only see low prices and forget what this costs employees in the form of poor working conditions.".
