Norwegian plans to buy 50 new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft and has signed an agreement that includes options to buy additional aircraft.
Norwegian has signed an agreement in principle with American Boeing to initially purchase 50 aircraft of the previously accident-prone 737 Max 8 model, according to a press release. The agreement also includes options for an additional 30 aircraft.
The 50 new aircraft are to be delivered between 2025 and 2028, which coincides with the expiration of the current lease period for the aircraft. The deal therefore represents a limited expansion of the company's aircraft fleet.
Norwegian expects the final agreement to lead to a net profit of approximately 2 billion Norwegian kroner.
