Two French unions have announced they will take Norwegian's cabin crew in Paris on strike this fall, reports E24. 

The strike notice, which has been announced by the unions UNAC and SNPNC, affects the 130 cabin crew employees that the Norwegian low-cost carrier has in France, most of whom are stationed at Charles de Gaulle Airport outside Paris.

”"The unions' demands will be assessed in the coming days," Norwegian's communications manager Tone Næs tells E24.

The unions will ask employees to go on strike for several days between October 14 and January 5. It is not yet clear how many days this will take. Both unions say they want to improve the employees' situation and that "working conditions and pay levels are alarming.".

UNAC also took its employees out in a three-day strike in April this year, but then Norwegian brought in substitutes from other airports so that traffic would not be affected.

According to the union, at least 80 percent of cabin crew currently earn a monthly salary of 1,500 euros, equivalent to 16,300 kronor, after tax. At the same time, there are also those who earn significantly more – a few of the staff are said to earn up to 4,000 euros, equivalent to 43,500 kronor.

The two parties are said to have negotiated new salary conditions during the summer. According to Norwegian, the company is said to have offered a salary increase, but it was not enough according to the unions, which are therefore warning of a strike.
