Those who buy the cheapest tickets on the airline Norwegian will soon not be able to bring a cabin bag for free.
According to Norwegian's new baggage rules, which have not yet been published, anyone traveling on a so-called low fare ticket must pay extra for a cabin bag, according to news site check-in.dk.
Norwegian has not yet decided how much the fee will be. The new rules are expected to come into effect in February. Customers will be informed in advance.
It will still be free to bring a small carry-on bag that fits under the seat in front of you. However, anyone who wants to bring a cabin bag to stow away on the overhead bin will have to be prepared to pay extra.
According to Norwegian, the aim of the new rules is to increase punctuality and improve the experience for passengers. At the same time, the weight limit for checked baggage is increased from 20 to 23 kilograms.
The airline Ryanair has previously introduced a fee for cabin bags.
