Norwegian's traffic figures for August show a continued increase in the number of passengers, according to a press release.

In August, Norwegian carried 790,000 passengers, 1.5 times more than in the same period last year. Total capacity (ASK) increased by 129 percent to 1.235 million seat kilometers (compared to 1.141 million in July), and passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 168 percent.

The traffic increase was higher than in July, when RPK rose by 124 percent and the number of passengers was 696,000.

The cabin load factor, a measure of aircraft occupancy, was 72.6 percent, an increase of 10 percentage points compared to last year. In July, this measure was 74.4 percent.

Number of bookings of air travel ahead is increasing as Norwegian's route network expands with an increased vaccination rate and opportunities to cross country borders with so-called vaccine certificates, the company writes.

Norwegian's competitor SAS will publish its traffic figures for August on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
