From now on, the airline Norwegian will charge for cabin bags for those who buy the cheapest tickets. Those who want to bring their luggage in their cabin bag must either pay the fee or buy the more expensive variants of the tickets, according to the company.

The airline Ryanair has previously introduced a fee for cabin bags, and now more are expected to follow suit.

However, you are still allowed to carry a small piece of hand luggage for free on the Norwegian plane.

The new rules aim to increase punctuality and improve the passenger experience. At the same time, the weight limit for checked baggage will be increased from 20 to 23 kilograms, according to Norwegian previously said.

The company will introduce the new hand luggage rules from Thursday, January 23, but those who booked their tickets before this date will not have to pay.

The fee varies depending on the flight, Norwegian writes on its website, but within Scandinavia it is 50 kronor, and 90 kronor for intercontinental travel.

Earlier in January, the news site check-in.dk reported that the new fees were in the works.
