In May, Ljungleden opens, a 170-kilometer long cycle path that connects two of Sweden's most popular cycle paths, creating a loop perfect for a cycling holiday in western Sweden. The name Ljungleden comes from the violet landscape flower that grows abundantly along the scenic trail.
The Ljungleden trail is just as suitable for a day trip as it is for a longer cycling holiday. It starts in central Gothenburg, passes through the Swedish "”coffee break-city" Alingsås and winds on along scenic country roads through Vårgårda to Fallköping. The trail also connects two popular cycling trails, the Kattegat Trail in Gothenburg and the Ätradalsleden in Falköping, and thus opens up new opportunities to discover large parts of Western Sweden by bicycle.
