Two American tourists in Italy broke into the classical amphitheater in Rome at dawn on Monday. But not completely unnoticed – someone saw them sitting inside the old gladiator arena, where they had climbed to the second floor, and called the police.

The tourists quickly admitted that they had broken in to drink beer, for which they are now forced to pay a fine equivalent to approximately 8,000 kronor.

However, it is unclear how they managed to get into the 2,000-year-old building, which before the pandemic was visited by around 25,000 people daily.
