It won't be business as usual, but Gröna Lund in Stockholm aims to open its doors on May 1st.
Only pre-booked visits are allowed, and there will be many fewer guests than usual.
Gröna Lund has been closed for more than a year, but preparations are now underway to ensure the amusement park can reopen safely. The premiere is set for May 1, a week later than usual.
All tickets must be purchased in advance, travel passes and coupons will be abolished, during the high season and on weekends there will be double visitor passes and everyone will be given a specific arrival time to avoid congestion at the entrance.
The Public Health Agency has also presented a series of regulations on everything from how parties should be placed on rides to how the number of guests should be limited.
”"There will be far fewer guests in the park than in a normal summer," says Gröna Lund CEO Magnus Widell.
Gröna Lund is currently working out exactly how many there will be. According to the Public Health Agency's regulations, each visitor must have 20 square meters to move around.
The amusement parks have criticized the fact that those who have outdoor operations in a fenced area still have to calculate twice as much space per guest as what an indoor store needs.
”"We are still very confused about how the Public Health Agency came to this conclusion," says Magnus Widell.
”It will be super difficult to make ends meet.”
However, the CEO hopes that the vaccination rate and warmer weather will help to lift more restrictions in the future.
”We hope that the situation will change during the course of the season, so that we can bring in more,” he says.
As things stand now, the park will focus on rides this summer. No concerts or other entertainment are planned.
The prerequisite for Gröna Lund to be able to open is that the infection situation allows it and that the government decides on the necessary legislative changes.
Today, Gröna Lund and Liseberg are not considered amusement parks in the sense of the law, but are subject to the rules of a maximum of eight participants. However, the government has proposed that this should change from April 11.
