The Norwegian government is opening up new support for the airline Norwegian, which recently presented a new business plan. Among other things, Norwegian will discontinue its long-haul routes and significantly reduce its debts.
– The government is positive about contributing more support to Norwegian, says Minister of Economic Affairs Iselin Nybø (V), according to NTB.
According to her, the new business plan is more robust than the one presented in October and which the government then rejected.
The government's condition for continued support is that private investors also contribute.
“On behalf of everyone at Norwegian, I would like to extend a big thank you to the government. Norwegian is in a very demanding situation as a result of the pandemic. Support from the state significantly increases our chances of being able to raise new capital and get through the reconstruction process,” says Jacob Schram, CEO of Norwegian, in a press release.
