Starting Sunday, cafes and restaurants in Israel will be allowed to reopen their doors.
Israel continues to open up, and starting Sunday, cafes and restaurants will welcome guests. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu celebrated the success with a coffee in Jerusalem.
”"We still have to be vigilant. We have to wear masks and keep our distance, but we are coming out of it and there is not much left," Netanyahu told Reuters news agency over a plate of sweets.
However, to be allowed into the heat, a so-called green passport is required - which can be obtained by anyone who has received two doses of the vaccine or has been declared healthy after having had Covid-19 - reports the daily newspaper Haaretz.
Restaurant guests who do not have green passes are also welcome to order, but must sit outdoors.
Previously, green pass holders have been able to visit cultural events, gyms and synagogues.
The easing is part of the reopening after a lockdown that began in late December. The government has also announced that primary school students in several parts of the country will be allowed to return to physical classrooms, and that in-person teaching will resume for vaccinated university students.
At the same time, restrictions on how many people can travel in the same private car and mandatory temperature checks for access to public places are being lifted.
